Vale Royal Crematorium welcomes New Manager

The new manager of Vale Royal Crematorium says she is committed to ensuring that her team provides the highest level of exceptional care to every family who entrusts them with the final farewell to their loved ones.

Georgia Hanson said: “I am passionate about providing exceptional service, support and care to the bereaved and our local communities when they need it most.”

Vale Royal Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 40 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

Westerleigh Group prides itself on providing exceptional care to the bereaved, the standards of which are inspected by the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities (FBCA) in England and Wales, and the Scottish Government.

Georgia’s career in the bereavement sector began following her studies in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Manchester.

She started her journey with Westerleigh Group in January 2021 where she took up a six-month temporary position as Crematorium Assistant at Howe Bridge Crematorium, wanting to build on her medical knowledge from her degree, in a setting that allowed her to also support her local community.

Her position was made permanent towards the end of that six-month period and Georgia soon found herself taking on some managerial duties as she continued to develop her skills and experience in all aspects of the role.

She said: “In May 2022, I was selected to join the first cohort of Westerleigh’s Manager in Training Programme (MIT) and in April 2023, I was appointed to the position of Assistant Manager at Howe Bridge Crematorium.”

Less than a year later, she was successful in securing a role of Site Manager at Vale Royal Crematorium and is looking to “going above and beyond” to help families provide uniquely personal funerals for their loved ones.

She added: “Westerleigh Group is a business that identifies talent and provides excellent support and opportunities. The support I have had throughout my career so far, through MIT, my colleagues and peers and my former manager at Howe Bridge through her on-the-job training and guidance – has been so valuable.”

She is now putting all that learning and experience into practice at Vale Royal Crematorium, which has been serving its local communities for 10 years.

“I want to reinforce and strengthen the relationships we have with our local Funeral Directors so that together, we can provide our community with support and the highest level of service”.

She said: “Vale Royal Crematorium is truly a beautiful setting in which our visitor can reflect, remember and commemorate their loved ones. Being able to work in such a beautiful setting with a compassionate team dedicated to providing support to families when they need it the most really fill me with pride.”
